Redbull buzzes in Brazil: This February 14th , Rio surfers in Brazil were able to discover an unusual activation, thought by Red Bull. Indeed, the brand has just unveiled the first service for sharing surfboards. A first in history, which is directly inspired by the many bikes and other scooters already in self-service , worldwide.

Based on the concept of sharing, Red Bull therefore wishes (via this installation) to motivate passers-by to try this national board sport, regardless of their level. Something for beginners to discover the joys of surfing, who might not dare to go it alone.

RedBull, self-service surfing in Brazil

How it works!

This stunt marketing was developed by the Brazilian agency DPZ & T, for the brand of energy drinks and for Grin Scooters. The installation will be on 4 beaches in Rio de Janeiro, until March 8: Arpoador, Barra da Tijuca, Ipanema, and Leblon. But we see you coming … How does it work? To rent the board, nothing could be simpler. The system is the same as for renting a car, bicycle or scooter. Users use an application (here, Grin) and scan the QR code on the lock. Then, all you have to do is grab the board and get started

Surf-self-service-2-Spotyride For every 20 minutes of use, the surfer pays around 1 dollar : a very affordable price. “The sharing and self-service economy is already a reality that is well entrenched in our world today. We took advantage of this momentum to encourage the public to try this sport, which is perfect for summer. ” explains Rafael Ziggy, the creative director at DPZ & T.
